The First Draft Foundation was created to encourage young people to approach life after high school with intention, imagination, and purpose. We believe the future isn't something that simply happens to us—it's something we help create through thoughtful choices, meaningful preparation, and the courage to pursue a path that reflects who we are.
Through grants awarded to graduating seniors from our partner schools, we recognize students who have taken the time to thoughtfully articulate their vision for what comes next. Whether that journey ultimately leads to college, service to our country, the skilled trades, entrepreneurship, public service, or another purposeful calling, we celebrate young people who understand that every remarkable future begins with a well-considered first draft.

Every day, we witness the remarkable potential that exists within young people. We also know from experience how profoundly a life can be shaped when someone believes in that potential—offering encouragement, support, and the confidence to pursue a meaningful path. Those moments of belief can alter a trajectory, opening doors that once seemed beyond reach. Inspired by that conviction, we created The First Draft Foundation to recognize graduating seniors who have thoughtfully envisioned their futures and committed themselves to pursuing them with purpose. Through grants, encouragement, and a belief in intentional living, we hope to remind every student that the future is not something they simply inherit—it is something they have the power to author.
